A Day in Newnan Georgia

My friend and I decided to go on an Adventure Lunch to Newnan. What a treat this small town is! We first visited the Travel & Tourism Office in the Coweta County Courthouse. This courthouse was built in 1904 and the courtroom is in it’s original state. It is currently used only for Probate Court. I recently read the book Murder in Coweta County, which is a true story. The trial for that 1948 murder, which was made into a move, was actually held in this exact courthouse.

We went on a bit of a scavenger hunt with the shops. It was fun stepping into each of them and then exploring. One of our favorites was the Blue Fern! Only opened for about a year, sisters Staci and Lori have a warm and inviting shop. There are a lot of interesting and beautiful finds from the minute you step in, along the walls and to the back of the store.

They specialize in custom furniture, vintage home furnishings, local artisan jewelry as well as interior design. We can’t wait to pop in again!

Another nice shop is the Downtown Olive and Kitchen Supply Company. When I first popped in there over a year ago, it was right after they had opened for the day. My daughter K spotted the “GF bread available” sign. What a find that was! You know that song “Happy”?…that’s how I felt!

Such a treat to have GF bread, warmed up and give to me piled up high to try every oil if I wanted. Since they had just opened their doors for the day, the oils that were all placed in tiny sample bowls had not been touched yet by regular bread. Such an unexpected discovery! So I dipped, and dipped and dipped to my hearts content! There are so many varieties to try! This gem of a store has everything you could want for your kitchen! From towels, linens, kitchen gadgets, and serving pieces and everything in between. I stocked up on some Christmas gift shopping for next year.

While driving out of Newnan I decided to look at some of the local real estate. Just gorgeous old homes. The architecture and detail is amazing. I would love to see inside some of these homes to truly get that old timey feel when detail was so important in building a home. These homes have been loved on and it shows from top to bottom.

Greetings from Georgia~~~Rose
